TEHRAN, November 11 - Iran is the champion of the 2018 Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup in Dubai after a decisive win against, three-time champ, Russia.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Russia had come into the final on the back of an historic victory against Gilberto’s Brazilians, putting a brutal end to an unbeaten run of 66 games, which had spanned several years.
Mostafa Kiani gave Team Melli the lead and Mohammad Masoumizadeh and Hamid Behzadpour made it 3-0.
Paporotnyi pulled a goal back but Masoumizadeh was on target once again to lead Iran 4-1.
With five minutes remaining, Paporotnyi scored Russia’s second goal.
Iran had already defeated Russia 3-2 in the Group match.
Brazil won the bronze medal match after beating Egypt 5-3.
USA beat Spain 4-3 to finish fifth and host the UAE defeated Tahiti 7-6 in seventh place match.
