Speaking over the telephone to his Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated the Lebanese FM on the arrest of the terrorist member involved in the bombing of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.
Zarif said "Regarding these people’s role in regional unrest and the fact that they have martyred two staff members of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut as well as some Lebanese nationals, the Islamic Republic of Iran intends to dispatch a team to Beirut in order to take a share in the interrogation of this terrorist.”
Mansour had said in interview with the Lebanese daily Annahar "Iran’s security representative in Beirut has the right to attend Majed al-Majed’s interrogation, because he is involved in the operations which were carried out on Iranian soil (Iran’s Embassy in Beirut).”
Lebanese security forces arrested Majed al-Majed, the leader of the terrorist Abdullah Azzam Brigades, while in travel to earlier Syria this week.
The Brigades, reportedly based in Saudi Arabia, had claimed responsible for the recent bombing in Iran’s embassy in Beirut which left Iran’s cultural attaché and some more dead.
