Russian-made fighter plane crashes in Egypt

TEHRAN, November 03 -A Russian-made MiG-29 fighter plane, belonging to the Egyptian Air Force (EAF), has crashed during a training flight in Egypt, with reports saying that the pilot has managed to eject and is currently in good condition.

Russian-made fighter plane crashes in EgyptTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -The incident took place on Saturday, according to Russia's state-controlled United Aircraft Corporation. The cause of the crash remains unknown.

"We are in possession of the latest information about the crash of a MiG-29M belonging to the Egyptian army. Our technical experts will travel to Egypt very soon to help in the investigation," the Russian aircraft corporation said.

The corporation, which unites state-owned military and civilian aircraft construction companies, did not provide possible reasons for the crash.

According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, the aircraft had been delivered to Egypt under a commercial contract in 2018.

Russia is due to supply 46 MiG-29 fighter planes to Egypt based on an agreement signed in 2015, Russia’s Vedomosti newspaper said at the time, citing two sources in the aircraft industry.

The news comes a month after another MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in a forest near the Russian capital Moscow during a training flight due to an unknown reason.

The MiG-29 (NATO reporting name "Fulcrum") is a fourth generation Russian multipurpose fighter, developed by the design bureau MiG.
