Tehran, YJC. The UK parliamentary friendship group is going to visit Iran in the near future.
Head of the Iran-UK parliamentary friendship group says the British
friendship delegation is heading to Tehran in the coming days.
Abbasali Mansouri maintained that the delegation will be
headed by Jack Straw, Mehr News Agency reports.
He added "This afternoon we will discuss the quality of the
visit with Iran’s resident Charge d’Affairs in the UK embassy.”
Mansouri further said "The visit was requested by the
British parliamentary group and we welcomed it. If they visit Iran, we will
also make a trip to the UK.”
Asked if the issue has been discussed with the Speaker or
the Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis
he said "I do not think that there is any need for permission from the Majlis Speaker
or the Committee Chairman. I will personally pursue the issue as the head of
the Iran-UK parliamentary friendship group.”
In answer to the question whether Iran would agree to a
hypothetic request by the British delegation, Mansouri said "No action that
would raise side issues will be beneficial to any of the two sides. Such relations
can affect the governmental as well as the private sectors.”
