Tehran, YJC. Ahmad Khatami has said whoever settled the meeting with Iranian opposition figures for the EU parliamentary delegation must be reprimanded.

Speaking in Kazeroon on Friday evening, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami pointed to the EU parliamentary delegations’ recent meeting with opposition figures Nasrin Sotoudeh and Jafar Panahi and said "Those who arranged the European delegation’s meeting with the sedition activists must be reprimanded and they have to apologize to people, no matter what rank they hold.”

Khatami also called for President Rouhani to "give firm answer to the US President’s balderdash,” Fars news agency reports.

He exclaimed "If our diplomats make compromise against the West, the US in particular, they will progress step by step; so that as we can see today they have taken up issues of human rights, long-range missiles, support for Hezbollah, and things like that.”

He further said "Here we feel that Americans have made some miscalculation that the sanctions have dragged us to the negotiation table.”

"The US and European countries are pursuing a 35-years-old revenge. They are trying to raise a sleeping grudge at the negotiations,” he said.

He added that the Western countries are trying to "overthrow the Iranian state” through the negotiations, urging Iran’s diplomats to "follow the nation’s interests.”
