TEHRAN, October 07 - There will be recitation of the Quran by a number of prominent Qaris and elegy recitations as well as speeches on the character and achievements of the late Quran master.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Master Morovvat died in Toronto, Canada, in October 2016 after a long battle with a severe illness.

Born in 1944 in Tehran, Morovvat started learning the Quran with masters like Mulla Mohammad Baqer Fani and went on to become an eminent Quran reciter.

He also spent some time in Cairo to learn from senior Egyptian Qaris.

He was the first Iranian and Shia Muslim winning the top title at Malaysia’s international Holy Quran competition in 1973. He was also the first to establish choral Quran recitation sessions in Iran.

He was laid to rest at Tehran’s Behesht Zahra Cemetery on October 29, 2016.
