TEHRAN, YJC. Alaeddin Boroujerdi has said that Iran is for relations with all countries and the Holocaust must not have been mentioned.
In an interview with YJC, Alaeddin Boroujerdi provided comments on a policy of détente during his office as Velayati's assistant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and said "During the 9th and 10th administrations some unnecessary tensions were created. For example on an issue to which European and US public opinion as well as the UN were sensitive.”
"We paid for it without having gained anything,” he added, "Why must the Security Council make an announcement against us? Why must all European countries condemn us? What need was there for that? I think this was a mistake against policies of the system. The system's policy both at the time of Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader has been to keep good relations with all countries. The US is an exception in this rule because we don not have relations with them and they are hostile towards us. Of course the Zionist regime is another story since we even do not recognize it as a country. That is the system's approach and we must not commit something in opposition to this approach that damages our main political procedures, something which happened about the Holocaust.”
