Tehran, YJC. The Mayor of Tehran says Islamic republic of Iran does not need abandon its values and reach out for the US in order to provide for its people.
Speaking
at a gathering on the occasion of the Students Day at Tehran University on Saturday,
Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said "We must prove that the efficiency of the state in
meeting people’s needs does not depend on relations with the US and abandoning
its values. One can be revolutionary, preserve our values and efficiently, and
be able to resolve national problems at the same time.”
"The
arrogance has always attempted to turn the fighters’ struggles into silence and
lead movements astray, attempts which continue even to date,” Qalibaf asserted.
He maintained
"Imam Khomeini blocked all ways for monopoly and compromise and he continued
the fight against arrogance at every front.”
The
Mayor of Tehran stated that there are three followers to any right path, adding
"Fighting, compromising, and indifference are the three ways to deal with the
true path. Our revolution has nothing to do with compromise or indifference. At
our times, arrogance is the antagonist; and fighting it is a truth-seeking
duty. Fighting means to protect one’s independence and to resist.”
Qalibaf
further said "Resistance covers a certain amount of negotiation, rivalry, and
direct confrontation. Resistance does not strictly mean direct confrontation. Being
revolutionary means to choose the right way of fighting with regard to the
situation.”
