Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov discusses about Iran, Syria situation with Saudi king's personal envoy in Moscow.
The Iranian nuclear programme and Syrian conflict settlement in the run-up to the Geneva 2 international conference on Syria were discussed at a meeting in Moscow on December 3 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and personal envoy of the Saudi king, Secretary General of the National Security Council, head of the intelligence service of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the RF Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.
 
 "During the conversation the parties considered the state of and prospects for Russian-Saudi relations. They noted the importance of continuing the bilateral political dialogue at various levels, confirmed mutual interest in intensification of mutually beneficial trade and
economic relations, including in the high technology and investment spheres," the ministry said.
   
They also discussed in detail the key issues related to the developments in the Middle East, including the Iranian nuclear programme and Syrian settlement in the run-up to the Geneva 2 international conference on Syria. "They placed the emphasis on the need to ensure the resolution of acute international problems based on respect for the UN
Charter provisions and international law principles," the RF Foreign Ministry added.
