Tehran, YJC. Larijani says the previous government acted populistically in its implementation of the subsidies targeting plan.
Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani speaking at the beginning of the
parliament’s open session on Saturday severely criticized the way the subsidies
targeting plan has been carried out.
Populist thought recognizes neither the people nor the
country’s interests, stated Larijani, adding "The example of such
decision-making was to take place in the way the subsidies targeting was
carried out, where instead of creating an opportunity for the country’s civil
growth, expenses increased for at least Rls270 thousand billion.”
"It is a pity that the country’s total income equals the
total expenditure of the departments and there remains nothing for civil
projects where people are to be benefited,” the Speaker regretted.
He added "The problem is that governments and parliaments
are all appointed by people’s vote, and then when they are caught in political
scuffle, such economic operations, which are surely to benefit the people and
the country, find no brave man to be carried out by.”
"Such actions are not carried out with populist thought,” he
asserted.
