TEHRAN, August 21 - Iran unveiled its first domestically-made fighter jet today August 21, on the anniversary of its defense industry.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Kouthar, the name of the jet, is an organic fighter designed with the mission of close-air-support (CAS).

Close air support (CAS) is air action by fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft against hostile targets that are in close proximity to friendly forces and requires detailed integration of each air mission with the fire and movement of those forces.

Kowsar is equipped with advanced integrated modular avionics as well as fire control systems of 4th generation.

Multi-purpose radar, precise radio clock, and intelligent mapping system are some other technologies the aircraft enjoys.

The fighter carried out its first flight in Tuesday's ceremony with the attendance of President Hassan Rouhani, Minister of Defense Brigadier General Amir Hatami as well as other senior military officials.

The Islamic Republic has made significan advences over past years in military area, and has always noted that the advanceas are in service of its detenet power against any thraet.

Iranian expets achiev the breakthroughs despite all of sanctions imposed on the country.
