TEHRAN, August 20 - Iranian Police Commander Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari praised the border forces for ensuring sustainable security in the country’s northwestern areas, saying rapid response by the Police has helped lower the crime rate in that region.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Speaking to reporters in the provincial capital of Oroumiyeh on Monday, General Ashtari commended the security forces for contributing to “appropriate, stable and sustainable security conditions” along the country’s northwestern borders.
The fruitful measures in the northwestern border regions have raised satisfaction among people, he added.
According to the commander, the swiftness and precision of police activities have brought down crime rates in West Azarbaijan Province, which shares border with three countries.
In comments in July, General Ashtari warned that Takfiri terrorists have increased their activities along the Islamic Republic’s borders with the support of certain countries.
Last week, Iraq’s interior minister said his country has reached an agreement with Iran and Turkey to increase cooperation in border control and the fight against illicit drugs.
