Tehran, YJC. Khorasan has secured its place as a global source for turquoise after a second mine was discovered lately.

The only operational turquoise mine in Nishapur used to be regarded as the world’s oldest still active.  A body found it the old city of Tappeh Borj showed that the mine had been tapped into for more than 5000 years. This was where the world’s highest quality turquoise was extracted.

But recently a second mine has been found just 7 kilometers from the first one. It will bring Nishapur monopoly over the world’s turquoise market.
