Tehran, YJC. Ebtekar has said that a fund has been launched to facilitate activities that are aimed at protecting the environment.
Head of the Environmental Protection Organization of the Islamic
Republic of Iran said that the organization has launched a fund with the aim to
facilitate measures to protect the environment.
Masoumeh Ebtekar who was speaking in a joint session by the Administrative
Council and the Land Use Planning and Environment Committee of Semnan province
on Tuesday pointed out that Iran is the 11th country for producing
greenhouse gas.
Head of the
Environmental Protection Organization said "In case the Framework Convention on
Climate Change is generalized to cover Iran as well, we must do some serious thinking
about that.”
Ebtekar stated that Iran’s place in the international
ranking for environmental protection has nose-dived by 63 in the past 8-10
years.
Ebtekar who is in office at the Environment Protection
Organization for her third term also held the position during the first and
second terms of the Khatami administration from 1997 to 2005.
