Tehran, YJC. Hashemi has said Iran-US flights will be economically feasible only if in line with the major policies of the state.
Speaking
in interview with ICANA, Head of the Civil Development Committee of the Majlis provided
comments on recent statements by the Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization
that Iran is looking forward to opening flight routes to the US and said "Nothing
has been disclosed to us in that regard and no opinion has been sought.”
"But
if launching a direct flight between Iran and the US is in line with the major
policies of the state and it further does not diminish the flights’ share it
will be all right with us,” Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi added.
"I
am not sure if doing so is economically feasible,” he asserted, adding "to make
out if it is economical will fall within the privileges and properties of the
government.”
Hashemi
further pointed out that a direct flight will reduce the travel cost and added
that if no damage is done to the other flights; launching one to the US will be
all right.
"But
I think that that there will not be enough demand to warrant a direct flight,”
he commented.
The
Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization had lately said that there was no
technical problem against opening a flight route to the US and that he and his
colleagues were waiting for favorable opinions from political leaders.
