TEHRAN, July 15 - Iranian powerlifters have put in fine performances at the World University Powerlifting Cup in the Czech Republic, and ended third overall on the medal table.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The Polish powerliftling team was named the top-ranked squad. Hungarians claimed the second place.
Iranian powerlifters finished third, having collected 26 points. Poland notched up 36 points, while Hungary tallied 31 points.
The names on the roster of Payame Noor University, which represented the Islamic Republic at the week-long tournament, included Navid Yazdani, Mohammad Reiesi, Seyyed Mohsen Salari and Mohammad Abbasabadi.
They vied against opponents in the 74-kilogram, 83-kilogram, 93-kilogram and 120-kilogram weight categories respectively.
The Iranian outfit was under the tutelage of Abdulmahdi Nasirzadeh as head coach with Hossein Shirvani coaching the Iranian powerlifters.
The World University Powerlifting Cup kicked off in the western Czech city of Pilsen on July 8, and closed on July 14, 2018.
