Tehran, YJC. Ayatollah says that for the nuclear talks to progress, the West needs to recognize Iran’s rights.
Member of the Leadership Assembly of Experts and Friday preacher
of Tabriz Ayatollah Mojtahed Shabestari in interview with
Nasim said: "The baseline
is that the negotiations should be logical and respectful, not imposed in
illogical. Once the Supreme Leader issues the permission for negotiation with
the US and the Foreign Ministry officials start talks with US State officials,
no doubt all the issues, including the confiscated Iranian assets and the damages
that the Iranian nation has suffered in the past 35 years from inimical
approaches by the US, must be discussed. The US owes us things and we have
rights which it must reimburse.”
He further added "Based on what the US government has so far
shown, it seems unlikely that they could turn reasonable and be able to hold a
logical negotiation with Iran.”
The Ayatollah further said that the West must lay no
conditions before the negotiations, and that Iran does still stress its right
to enrich uranium, and it will not shut down the Fordo site.
"The continuation of enrichment and the recognition of Iran’s
national rights to nuclear energy are our principal conditions for the
negotiations,” he asserted.
Ayatollah Mojtahed Shabestari added "We believe that in
major cases and international relations, the Supreme Leader is the decision
maker and that the three branches work under his policies.”
He further pointed out that discrepancies between what Obama
said at the UN General Assembly and what he said after his meeting with
Netanyahu testify to his untruthfulness.
He added that as long as the West keeps the military option
on the table, "our armed forces will hold their finger on the trigger.”
