Rouhani, new German ambassador meet

Tehran, YJC. The new German ambassador has met with President Rouhani to discuss mutual interests.

The new German ambassador to Iran Michael Baron von Ungern met the president on Monday. Dr. Rouhani stressed mutual relations and Iran’s peaceful activities.

Stressing the point that Iran is against mass destruction weapons, Rouhani said "Iran considers the application of mass destructive weapons as immoral and illogical in terms of religion.”

"No doubt Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful and the country wants to enjoy its nuclear rights within international regulations free of any discrimination,” Rouhani asserted.

Rouhani also congratulated the ambassador with the re-election of Angela Merkel as Chancellor of the Germany.

The German ambassador in turn stated that economic relations between the two countries are highly important.

Pointing to the upcoming Geneva meeting, he expressed hopes that the meeting will come with achievements on the nuclear case. 

Michael Baron von Ungern then pointed to Rouhani's recent speeches and said "The press and public opinion of Germany are very much interested in having private interviews with the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
