Tehran, YJC. The Majlis is devising a procedure to oversee the 11th administration’s dealings with Western oil companies as the Iranian Oil Ministry has started negotiations with giants such as Shell and Total.
An informed
source in the Majlis says that in line with its observatory role on the actions
of executive forces, the Majlis is considering oversight to the government’s
dealings with big oil companies of the West, Mehr reports.
He added
"The Article 90 Committee of the Majlis is to follow the Oil Ministry’s new
contracts with Western companies with special care.”
"No
investigation has yet been made in this regard and only for the importance of
oil contracts with Western companies, the Majlis is considering the issue,” he
further commented.
Pointing
to new attempts by oil giants such as Shell and Total to make their way back to
the Iranian oil, the Actant Deputy of Oil Ministry in International Affairs and
Commerce Mansour Mohazami had earlier said that negotiations with big companies
have started, but they are not to reach anywhere in one day.
"With
improving diplomatic relations between Iran and foreign countries in the past
few weeks, there has been a lot of requests by foreign companies to return to
the [Iranian] oil industry,” he had added.
