Tehran, YJC. The Foreign Minister has said that the Iranian team in their visit to New York have neutralized plans to isolate and intensify sanctions on Iran.

The Foreign Minister Mohammadjavad Zarif met with the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis on Sunday.

The spokesman of the committee Hossein Naqavi Hosseini provided comments on the meeting as "In this session Zarif presented a full report of his meetings and speeches during the trip.”

He added that the Foreign Minister maintained that the Iranian delegation had been able to neutralize plans that had been designed against Iran before they had visited the US.

"The Congress was seeking to impose new sanctions and the Zionist regime intended to isolate our country. But both of these schemes were laid waste and that was one of the greatest achievements of this trip,” Zarif had said according to Naqavi.

The committee spokesman also added "Explaining about the phone call between Rouhani and Obama, Zarif said ‘We imagined that maybe a conversation between our president and the president of the US over the telephone would be all right.’”

The Foreign Minister had also pointed to the Supreme Leader’s support for the government’s diplomatic movements, adding "The Islamic Republic of Iran has the ability to cope with the US and Israel, for which we must believe in the abilities of ourselves and our governmental team.”

"If we think that there is a single voice in America we have thought wrong. We can tap into the disagreements in the US in order to become the winner. The Zionist regime also has many weak points which can be used,” Zarif further said, according to the committee spokesman.
