Tehran, YJC. Rouhani says that the positive influences of high-ranking Iran-US talks have encouraged US lawmakers to launch a committee for friendship with Iran.
In a
meeting with members of the Majlis on Monday, President Rouhani said "The
influence of the talks between Iran and the US has been so positive that a
committee for friendship with Iran is going to be launched in the US Congress,
in which case your job in the Majlis will also grow much more serious,” Mehr
News Agency reports.
Lawmaker
Abed Fattahi providing comments on the joint government-Majlis session and the
president’s report on his conversation with Barack Obama said "In this call the
Iranian nuclear case and the need for sanctions to be removed were discussed.”
"Rouhani
also provided comments on the question about the Holocaust, which was asked by
a foreign reporter, having said that he is not a historicist and that the Holocaust
has nothing to do with us,” Fattahi further said.
He added
that Rouhani had maintained that the White House had frequently called the Iranian
officials for a face-to-face meeting. "US flexibility on the Middle East is
much greater than that of the EU,” Ruhani had said, according to Fattahi.
He also
reported the president as pointing to the country’s economic status saying "It
has been 45 days since the administration took the country’s economic helm. The
economy is much worse than you might think. The economic growth is highly
negative, inflation is 39 percent, and we must do things in order to win public
trust.”
