TEHRAN, May 13 - US President Donald Trump is erroneously linking the US exit from the Iran nuclear deal to the country’s military budget to justify the move in the wake of pressure from US allies and his opponents inside the country.

Trump links US exit from nuclear deal to Iran military budget

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – Trump who withdrew from the international deal recently said in a tweet on Saturday that it was just a “big lie.”

The president tacitly censured “the Obama,” former US President Barrack Obama, who was in office during the negotiations involving Tehran, the UK, Russia, Germany, China and France.

“Iran’s Military Budget is up more than 40% since the Obama negotiated Nuclear Deal was reached...just another indicator that it was all a big lie. But not anymore,” claimed the hawkish US president.

Trump’s tweet followed his Tuesday declaration that the US was exiting the agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Both during the negotiations and ever since the deal was inked in 2015, Tehran has time and again asserted that the JCPOA merely has to do with Iran’s nuclear program and not its military capability.

Tehran’s commitment has constantly been corroborated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) ever since the deal was clinched.
