TEHRAN, May 11 - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi said preserving the nuclear deal would be possible only in case of presenting practical ‘guarantees’ by the other 5 sides of the nuclear deal.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – “It is possible to preserve the JCPOA in case the other signatories to the deal present practical guarantees to meet Iran’s interests and make up for impacts caused by the US withdrawal from the agreement,” he said in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Ryabkov.
Araqchi said Iran would hold talks with the other 5 countries to investigate whether it is possible to keep the deal or not.
They also discussed the latest situation of the nuclear deal after the US exit and ways to keep the agreement alive without the US.
The Russian side, for his part, expressed sorrow over US unilateral move, saying that the measure is a threat to international peace and security.
He also stressed Russian compliance with its commitments to the agreement, adding it would work with other sides to preserve the deal.
