Tehran, YJC. Chief of Iran’s Narcotics Police says that despite efforts to lower Afghanistan’s production of narcotic plantation, the amount has increased.
Speaking in interview with Fars
news agency, the Chief of Iran’s Narcotics Police Brigadier General Ali Moayedi
pointed to educational courses held by Iran for Afghan anti-drugs police staff
and said "We hope to reduce the smuggling of narcotic drugs by exporting our
know-how to other countries.”
"Thanks to the well-defined programs by the Iranian Police,
now we discover less drugs at the borders,” he said.
Head of the Narcotics Police of Iran added "We are investigating
the production in Afghanistan. Our estimations say that production in Afghanistan
has increased as compared to the past.”
Moayedi stated that like Iran, Afghanistan suffers tens of
casualties every year meeting drugs, adding "There are entities which introduce
Afghanistan as the criminal agent in relation to drugs, but Iran does not hold
such a view and fights it.”
