TEHRAN, May 8 - Iran’s Supreme Quran Council released a message of condolence over the death of a prominent Iraqi Qari.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – Mahmoud bin Shakir bin Muhammad al-Karkhi died Sunday at the age of 53.
In the message on Sunday, the council expressed condolences to Iraq’s Quranic society and the Muslim world’s Qaris, memorizers and Quran experts.
It also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Al-Karkhi was a senior Qari and teacher of Quran recitation styles.
He was also the vice-president of Iraq’s Association of Qaris and headed the Qaris Society of Diyala province in eastern Iraq.
The senior Quran master was in Iran last month to serve as a member of the panel of judges of the 35th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
