Iran condemns US court judjment on 9/11 attacks

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – Unilaterally judging, US court required Iran to pay more than $6 billion to the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks as compensation, in the absence of any evidence of Iranian involvement.

Meanwhile, with 15 of the 19 hijackers of Saudi nationality, Saudi Arabia remains the main target of US citizens looking for damages in relation to the attacks.

Ghasemi condemned such a judgement, saying that the politically-motivated judgment has been issued in a condition that there was not even a sintila of eveidence on Iran's involvement in the attacks.

"The issuance of these irreconcilable and unacceptable judgments not only has ridiculed international law but the American people, especially the survivors and victims of the 9/11 incident" the Spokesman noted.

"Distorting facts, the devisers of these political games futilely try to divert the process of prosecution and its outcome in a fictitious way and even contrary to the way that the prosecutions have been carried out within the United States over the years against the perpetrators of this terrorist act; the want to write the history as they desire, but certainly this will not happen" Ghasemi elaborated.

Issuing such judgments is a sheer violation of international law, Ghasemi said, and all rights are preserved for Iran to confront such an illegal process of prosecution.
