TEHRAN, April 29 - Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Hamid-Reza Araqi for Gas said Basra is ready to receive Iranian gas which would come true after paying the expenses.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – “Basra has expressed readiness to receive Iranian gas, but no gas has been exported to Basra yet.”
He noted the gas export depends on paying the expenses by Iraq.
One of the reasons delayed Iran’s gas exports to Basra is that gas pipeline in the Iraqi city had not been ready yet, however the pipelines are ready to be used now, he said.
He also said Iran’s gas exports to Basra would officially begin soon.
Iran and Iraq signed a MoU last year to export gas to two power plants in Baghdad and Basra.
The first phase of which which included pumping gas to Baghdad has been underway.
