Tehran, YJC. Kharazi says that the countries seeking friendship with Iran are old enemies who used to try to topple the Islamic Republic.

Iranian representative at the United Nations Sadeq Kharazi who was speaking on
the occasion of the Holy Defense
Week said "The Holy Defense is the red line of
the politics of Iran. Researchers must study the issue and they must know that
all the foreign powers who today pretend to be friends to Iran, used to help
Saddam with the intention to overthrow and eliminate Iran.”
He added
that Syria and Libya for a while have been Iran’s most intimate friends and
stated that the USSR, US, UK, Germany, France, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,
Bahrain, Jordan, as well as South Yemen used to be directly involved in war
against Iran.
He further
said that Zbigniew Brzezinski, the United States National Security Advisor to
President Jimmy Carter, met Saddam Hussein in 1981, giving him permission to
attack Iran and seize Khuzestan.
Kharazi
also maintained that Donald Rumsfeld used to have relations with Hussein and
provide him with information, helping him with his attack on Iran.
