Tehran, YJC. Kharazi says that the countries seeking friendship with Iran are old enemies who used to try to topple the Islamic Republic.

Former Iranian representative at the United Nations Sadeq Kharazi who was speaking on the occasion of the Holy Defense Week said "The Holy Defense is the red line of the politics of Iran. Researchers must study the issue and they must know that all the foreign powers who today pretend to be friends to Iran, used to help Saddam with the intention to overthrow and eliminate Iran.”

He added that Syria and Libya for a while have been Iran’s most intimate friends and stated that the USSR, US, UK, Germany, France, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, as well as South Yemen used to be directly involved in war against Iran.

He further said that Zbigniew Brzezinski, the United States National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter, met Saddam Hussein in 1981, giving him permission to attack Iran and seize Khuzestan.

Kharazi also maintained that Donald Rumsfeld used to have relations with Hussein and provide him with information, helping him with his attack on Iran.

Of course, for the last 34 years many countries milked Iran as much as they could. That is why we need to have a qualified, professional , government with professional, unbiased, secular ideas to protect Iran, not an ideology.
