TEHRAN, April 22 - The strong and deep-rooted relations between Iran and Iraq will not be influenced by mischievous interference from outsiders, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Speaking to reporters at the conclusion of a visit to Iraq on Saturday, General Hatami said the strong cultural, religious and historical links have led to close cooperation between Iran and Iraq.
He also underlined that such deep-rooted relations between the brotherly neighbors would by no means be affected by “interfering mischief” by foreign parties.
As regards the results of his trip to Iraq, the Iranian defense minister said a high-level meeting of Iran-Iraq defense cooperation commission achieved its purposes.
He also highlighted the results of a four-party meeting of military and intelligence officials from Iran, Russia, Syria and Iraq, stressing the need for continued cooperation among the four countries that contributed to stability and security in Iraq and the region.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Brigadier General Hatami had started his trip to Iraq on April 18 for talks on defense ties with the Arab country.
In July 2017, defense ministries of the two countries signed an agreement to promote interaction and share experiences in the fight against terrorism and extremism, work together to ensure border security, and provide each other with training and logistical, technical and military support.
