Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Foreign Minister has addressed global security issues at UN General Assembly.
The Foreign Minister of the
Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammadjavad Zarif who has attended the 68th
Session of the UN General Assembly on Thursday said "It is such a relief that whispers
of war have lowered, the fire is not dead, though, but the drum for war is not
beaten hard.”
"Military action and forceful
exertions will solve no problem. War cannot be used as a tool to reach
political aims. Those who think that by suppression or by entering war they can
reach their goals are so wrong,’ Zarif asserted.
Pointing also to the Iranian
nuclear case, he said "Our aim is sound interaction in order to solve the
nuclear issue, not negotiating for the sake of negotiation. We ask for a
solution which respects the incontrovertible rights of Iranians and, of course,
is able to meet the concerns of some of the members of the global community. We
believe that a solution can be reached which is accepted by all sides.”
The Iranian Foreign
Minister then referred to the recent anniversary of the 9/11 event and stated "September
11 testifies to the fact that one cannot imagine individual safety a
turbulent world.”
