TEHRAN, March 28 - Hujjat al-Islam Esmael Amir-zadeh, family expert and adviser discussed the most important factors in choosing a good spouse.
TEHRAN,Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In an interview with Hujjat al-Islam Esmael Amir-zadeh, family expert and adviser, the most important factors for choosing a spouse were discussed from the Islamic viewpoint.
Hujjat al-Islam Amir-zadeh mentioned being devoted and faithful to God as the most important quality for choosing a husband. He stated that the second criterion should be his good manners and referred to a Hadith by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who said, “Whenever your daughter had a suitor whose religion, morality and trust were satisfactory, let your daughter marry him."
The seminary researcher said, “The next important point is that he must be hardworking, and not lazy.”
In another part of the interview, Hujjat al-Islam Amir-zadeh explained the most important criteria for choosing a wife, including being devoted and faithful to God and having good manners which should be more important than good looks.
He went on to say, “Another important quality for a good wife is her chastity and modesty which I believe is an important factor for both religious and irreligious men.”
He concluded, “There are other notable qualities for both husband and wife that should be considered for a successful marriage, such as satisfactory beauty as expected by each side, patience and tolerance, , being at the same economic and cultural level, integrity, purity, kindness, selflessness, intimacy, cooperation, loyalty to each other and sense of responsibility.”
