TEHRAN, March 14 - Head of Tehran’s City Council Mohsen Hashemi said Tehran’s Mayor Mohammad-Ali Najafi has resigned.
TEHRAN,Young Journalists Club (YJC) - His resignation is because of his disease, Hashemi said.
“Working in municipality creates mental pressures and Najafi, because of his disease, has decided to quit.”
He refused to give further details about Najafi’s physical problem.
Hashemi reiterated that he does not plan to become mayor, adding the City Council would decide about naming a new mayor next year (starting on March 21).
