Speaking in an interview with Khabar Online, Mohammadjavad Zarif asserted that there is no military solution to the Syrian crisis, calling for all to try prevent a war.
Providing comments on Obama’s recent speech relegating the attack on Syria to a congressional consent, the Foreign Minister of Iran said "Mr. Obama’s speech clearly shows that a warmongering group are trying to make the President enter a war in which he has neither interest nor need.”
"The war is unwanted for Obama since it distorts all his programs where he tries to leave his heritage as he approaches the end of his term,” Zarif maintained, adding "On the other hand, a president who made it to the White House by anti-war slogans and promises to end wars will be starting a war which is not sure to have ended by the time he leaves the White House. Things being so, common sense tells us that Obama is entrapped in something which extremists have laid for him.”
