TEHRAN, March 3 - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said the Islamic Republic’s prerequisite for talks on its missile program is for the US and certain European states to destroy their long-range missiles and nuclear weapons.
TEHRAN,Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In remarks released on Saturday, Brigadier General Jazayeri denounced recent anti-Tehran remarks by some US and European officials and said, “What Americans say out of desperation about putting restrictions on Iran’s missile power is their unattainable dream.”
Such remarks against the Islamic Republic have their roots in Washington’s failures and defats in the region, the commander added.
If the development of Iran’s defense power had been subjected to political negotiations, the country would not have been able to put the US in such a position of weakness, he stressed.
“The precondition for talks on Iran’s missiles is the destruction of the US and Europe’s nuclear weapons and long-range missiles,” Brigadier General Jazayeri went on to say.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.
Iran says its military might poses no threat to other countries and the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
