TEHRAN,Young Journalists Club (YJC) - A new category titled “Quranic Qira’at (recitations)”, including Quran memorization along with the seven recitation styles of Quran has been added to the international Quran competition in Egypt.
According to vetogate.com, the category includes Quran memorization along observing the seven Quran recitation styles.
Ashraf Fahmi, a member of the Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the organizer of the contest, said that participants in this category should master the seven different styles of Quran recitation.
He added that the 25th edition of the Quranic event will be held in March and winners will be awarded a total amount of one million Egyptian pounds.
Other categories include Quran memorization, Tarteel recitation and interpretation of the Quran.
Cairo will host the competition, which is expected to see the participation of representatives from 70 Islamic, European and East Asian countries.
A panel of judges comprising ten Quran experts from Arab countries will evaluate the performance of the participants.
