Tehran, YJC. Head of Majlis National Security has refuted allegations about a Sierra Leonean agent selling Iran yellow cake.
In an
interview with Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency (ICANA), Alaeddin
Boroujerdi pointed to the allegations by US officials concerning the arrest of
a Sierra Leonean citizen on charges on having tried to sell Iran yellow cake "The
allegation that US officials have made rather resembles a joke than reality. Yellow
cake is much different from breakfast cake. You cannot place it in your shoe
heel and carry it from country to country.”
Some
Western media claimed that a Sierra Leonean had been arrested in JFK’s terminal
while attempting deals in transferring uranium to Iran.
Boroujerdi,
Boroujerd representative to the Majlis, maintained that Iran does not need to
import yellow cake and asserted "Iran is a producer of yellow cake, so the
allegation is brought up in order to influence the Iran-5+1 negotiations under the
new administration.”
He prohibited
US officials from creating an anti-Iranian atmosphere and said "Instead of
building a psychological atmosphere, Washington may use the opportunity come by
the new Iranian government to look for constructive negotiations in order to
end the Iranian nuclear issue.”
Head
of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis also
pointed to statements by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS)
that part of the Parchin site has been asphalted and said "The agency
investigators have regularly visited the Parchin site and affirmed that there
is no problem with the site. The allegations are a link in the chain for
building an anti-Iranian vibe.”
ISIS
had recently claimed that recent satellite images indicate changes in the Parchin
military site.
