TEHRAN, February 15 - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov agreed to cooperate on Iran’s nuclear deal as they met in Kuwait.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - During the meeting, they agreed to protect one another’s national interests despite political attacks against the nuclear deal.
Zarif took part in Iraq’s reconstruction conference in Kuwait.
He has already met with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.
The nuclear deal known as the JCPOA was inked between Iran and the P5+1 countries — namely the US, Russia, China, France, and Britain plus Germany — in July 2015 and took effect in January 2016.
Under the deal, limits were put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for the removal of all nuclear-related bans imposed on the Islamic Republic, among other things.
