Tehran, YJC. Majlis Security Committee member has said that it is completely legal if the Foreign Ministry takes the nuclear issue in hand.
Ahmad
Bakhshayesh Ardestani, Member of the Majlis Committee for National Security and
Foreign Policy, in an interview with Mosalas Online stated that the new Foreign
Minister Mohammadjavad Zarif is an intelligent, able person, adding "Since the
president feels that he must remove economic problems, which stem from the
sanctions, he prefers that Mr. Zarif takes on the responsibility.”
"It
is natural for every president that rises to power to bring his staff. Mr. Dr. Rouhani
has faith in Mr. Zarif,” he maintained.
Ardestani
deemed it quite OK if the nuclear case is assigned to the Foreign Ministry,
adding "What is important in the nuclear case is that the Leader’s ideas are
provided for. Therefore the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can do the Supreme
Security Council’s task and that wont create any special problem.”
"Taking
the nuclear case from the Supreme Council of National Security to the Foreign
Ministry is feasible, but the Supreme Leader, Mr. Rouhani, and the Foreign
Ministry must give attention and thought to the issue and see if they deem it
expedient or not. But as I said, it is quite possible,” he asserted.
He further
pointed out "Our foreign policy principles are fixed. The discourses that are
used in this sphere are sometimes intelligent diplomacy, sometimes general
diplomacy, correspondence, or sports diplomacy which are actually methods. Due to
his experience in the Foreign Ministry and having been Iran’s representative in
the United Nations and acquainted with diplomacy, Mr. Zarif can express himself
easily.”
Ardestani
added "If the Foreign Ministry prioritizes détente, construction interaction,
and regional cooperation, and try for example to have diplomatically reasonable
relations with regional countries and help the Islamic awakening and support
the member of the resistance from spiritually and physically, they will have
acted successfully.”
He demanded
Zarif to focus on the sanctions, hoping that what he mentioned as necessary to
be done would come effective.
