Tehran, YJC. Iran has impounded the Indian tanker Desh Shanti, claiming it has polluted the water.

Head of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Navigation Office Ali Estiri said that an Indian tanker named Desh Shanti has been impounded for violation of environmental rules.

He added that the ship has discharged its ballast water, containing oil, while it sailed in the Persian Gulf near Lavan Island, polluting the water for a length of about 10 miles.

He rejected accusations that the ship has been confiscated by the IRGC, saying that it is in the custody of the Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Navigation Office.
