TEHRAN, February 9 - Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariat-Madari said the country is still in talks with Groupe Renault, a French multinational automobile manufacturer, for investment in the central city of Saveh.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Shariat-madari said auto manufacturing has been one of the most important options for foreign investment in Iran.
This is the first time that a European car-maker (Renault) is going to have a 51 percent investment in Iran and visit Iranian sites for investment, the minister said.
He added one of the priorities is the City of Saveh, adding 14 other sites have been visited which may be selected by Renault.
“All talks have been based on putting Renault investment in Saveh so far. We hope that the final agreement will be signed in this city and Renault’s investment begins soon.”
He said Iran has issued permit for $1.9 billion foreign investment since the 12th government, August.
According to Shariat-Madari, Iran has received nearly $7 billion independent foreign investments which mainly includes medium-sized businesses with only one case quit and all other cases are making efforts to launch their projects in Iran.
