Tehran, YJC. The new Minister of ICT says that his first program is to bring peace and stability to his department.
Speaking upon his first appearance in office on Sunday
morning, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology of the
Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Vaezi said "My first action will be to
reestablish peace and stability in the ministry in a short while and to
straighten the unsteady situations inside and out.”
He pointed out that he will pursue his programs in 5
sections of landline and mobile telephones, post, space, and information
technology and research.
Vaezi stated that the mobile phone system is not fully
developed in the country and stressed the need to expand the service throughout
the country.
He also maintained that real changes are to take place in
postal services.
The Minister of ICT then asserted that the country needs to
keep in pace with the rest of the world in the space technological section.
Providing
comments on the role of information technology in different scientific and
economic sections, he maintained that measures are to be taken to increase the
country’s internet bandwidth and speed.
The
ICT Minister also said that his department will have special programs to
improve the penetration of ICT services in underprivileged areas of the country.
