Tehran, YJC. The new Minister of Culture has said that he will streamline his department’s bureaucracy to facilitate cultural activities.
The new Minister of Culture
and Islamic Guidance made his first appearance in office on Saturday morning after
he was qualified by the Majlis on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Ali
Jannati said "The recognition of issues, problems, and challenges that exist in
the department will be prioritized. After that we will think out approaches to
these problems and will solve them.”
Jannati also thanked the
previous Culture Minister Mohammad Hosseini and said "Dr. Hosseini is one of
the learned men of the country. I have worked with him since two decades ago. I
have been closely in contact with him and will use his ideas and points of
view.”
"I have not yet made a
final decision about the deputies. I will announce them in the days to come,”
he further said.
Answering a question
regarding censorship he said "I will investigate the problems and processes and
will think about the censorship issue. I have to point out that there will be
no censorship for individuals.”
He added "We must mention
priorities one by one. First of all we must get a bit acquainted with the
situations here, since I have been away from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic
Guidance for years. So, tasks will be defined and announced according to
policies and with the priorities of the government of insight and hope. Naturally
policies will be different from those of the previous term. We will mention
them gradually in different artistic, cinematic, and other activities
gradually.”
"We will try to prevent and reduce as much as we can some of
those cumbersome rules,” he concluded.
