Tehran, YJC. Brahimi has accepted Salehi’s invitation to visit Tehran.
In a phone call to Lakhdar Brahimi, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s
Minister of Foreign Affairs Aliakbar Salehi discussed the latest developments
in Syria and the ways to resolve the Syrian crisis.
Mehr News Agency reports that in the phone call made on Wednesday
afternoon, the two sides stressed the political approach to be supported by all
as the only desirable way out of the crisis.
Expressing gratitude for Brahimi’s offices in solving the Syrian
crisis, Iran’s Foreign Minister invited him to visit Tehran.
The United Nations and Arab League Special Envoy to Syria in
turn pointed to the positive role of Iran in solving the Syrian crisis,
expressing thanks for the country’s measures and stressing the need for them to
be continued.
Brahimi also praised as positive Salehi’s good offices in
furthering the political approach to the Syrian crisis and his active role in
meetings on Syria both inside and outside Iran.
Expressing gratitude for Salehi’s invitation, he indicated
his willingness to pay a visit to Tehran in the near future.
