TEHRAN, February 4 - Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan are in talks to build Astara-Moscow railway, said Abbas Nazari, Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways' Foreign Affairs Department.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He made the remarks after a meeting held by border guards and railway officials of Iran and Azerbaijan in Tehran.
He said that Iran and Azerbaijan have defined strategic projects on railway over last year, including North-South corridor.
Nazari said the two countries have agreed to establish railways between Astara City in Iran and Astara City in Azerbaijan.
Iran and Azerbaijan signed a MoU on Sunday based on which Iran would receive freight trains soon, he noted, adding the railroad would be launched this March.
Nazari said South-West corridor connecting Black Sea to Persian Gulf is another mega project which transports European cargos from Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Iran to Persian Gulf, India and other Persian Gulf states.
All commercial and technical talks of the project have been concluded, he said.
