Having won five gold, nine silver and ten bronze medals, the Islamic Republic of Iran stood behind Kazakhstan, with seven gold, four silver and one bronze medals at the conclusion of the competitions at Aftab-e Enghelab Sport Complex in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
Qatar collected five gold, three silver and two bronze medals to secure the third place.
On Sunday and the final day of the competitions, Iran’s Sepideh Tavakoli won the gold medal in the women’s high jump-pentathlon final contest, while her Uzbek rival Aleksandra Yurkevskaya claimed silver.
Irina Velinova from Turkmenistan earned the bronze medal.
Iran’s team, comprising Maryam Mohebbi, Faezeh Nessaei, Elham Kakoli and Haniyeh Samari, also took the silver in the women’s 4x400m relay contests after finishing the final in 3:51.39 minutes, which also marked a new national record.
Kazakhstan won the gold while Turkmenistan finished third.
Furthermore, Iran's male triple jumper Vahid Seddigh settled for the bronze. Khaled Alsubaie from Kuwait struck the gold medal, while Indian contestant Kamalraj Kanagaraj pocketed the silver.
