TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Police arrested 82 suspects during an anti-Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) operation in Istanbul on Saturday, according to a police source.
Istanbul police cracked down on suspects who had allegedly committed acts in Daesh's name or had gone to conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, and were preparing a terrorist act in the city, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, Anadolu Agency reported.
The suspects were arrested in simultaneous raids at 16 different addresses in 10 districts of Istanbul, the source said, adding 77 of the detainees were foreigners.
The police also seized a large number of documents during the raids.
