TEHRAN, February 1 - Iranian Foreign minister met on Monday with Shamshad Akhtar, the UN Under-Secretary General in Tehran.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iranian Foreign Minsiter Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Shamshad Akhtar, Under-Secretary General of the United Nations and head of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on Monday.
The two discussed various topics regarding Asia and Pacific, including the necessity of using regional capabilities, and the need to expand cooperations on some economical and infrastructure-related issues.
Islamic Republic’s cooperation in, and its support of UNESCAP’s plans to attain its developmental goals, the establishment of an Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) as a subsidiary of ESCAP in Iran, and the development and implementation of ESCAP’s plans for dealing with dust storms in Asia and Pacific in order to protect the natural environment and counter disasters were among the other points discussed in the meeting.
