TEHRAN, January 31 - A special assistant to Iran’s parliament speaker praised Hamas and the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine for their leading role in the anti-Israeli resistance movement, saying the attempts to normalize ties with Israel will get nowhere.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a meeting with the representative of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, held in Tehran on Tuesday, Hossein Amir Abdollahian described Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine as two pillars of resistance against the Zionist regime of Israel.
Lauding the suitable conditions of the anti-Israeli resistance, the Iranian assistant stressed that the attempts at normalizing ties between certain Arab countries and Tel Aviv would go nowhere.
For his part, Khaled Qadoumi expressed gratitude to Iran for supporting Palestine and for its stances against the US administration’s move to recognize the city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel.
US President Donald Trump declared in December 2017 that his administration would begin a years-long process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to Quds.
The decision has drawn widespread international condemnation and has sparked protests in the Palestinian territories.
Israel has occupied East Quds since the 1967 Middle East war. It annexed the area in 1980 and sees it as its exclusive domain. Under international law, the area is considered to be occupied territory.
