TEHRAN, January 31 - Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Jerusalem al-Quds is inseparable and unchangeable capital city of Palestine.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He said the issue of Palestine has been derailed over recent years due to plots made by enemies of the Islamic World and Muslims focused on other matters except the holy al-Quds and the main threat, Zionist regime’.
“It is a very big diversion which should be confronted and we should always keep the key issue of Islamic World, Palestine, alive.”
“We regard the holy al-Quds as an unchangeable, inseparable and undividable capital for Palestine,” he said.
Araqchi said that Iran would always support the fact the holy al-Quds is the capital of Palestine.
He said that US President Donald Trump’s decision on relocating US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds runs counter to international legal regulations and the UN resolutions on Palestine.
On December 6, Trump officially declared the disputed city of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's ‘capital. The move was seriously condemned by many countries around the world.
In a speech at the White House, Trump said his administration would also begin a process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city, which is expected to take years.
"I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel," Trump said. "While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering."
