TEHRAN, January 29 - The Iran men’s national beach soccer team has registered its second win at the second edition of the Persian Beach Soccer Cup in the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr, trouncing the Ukrainian side.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -The Iran men’s national beach soccer team has registered its second win at the second edition of the Persian Beach Soccer Cup in the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr, trouncing the Ukrainian side.
The Iranian squad routed the Eastern European outfit 6-3 in its second fixture of the tournament in the Tourism Village of Bushehr, located about 1,218 kilometers (757 miles) south of the capital Tehran, on Sunday evening.
Iranian midfielder Mohammad Moradi Farahabadi scored a hat trick in the game, while his teammate Mohammad Ahmadzadeh netted a brace.
Iran’s goalkeeper Hamid Behzadpour had a goal to his name as well.
Ukrainian forward Oleg Zborovskyi together with defenders Yurii Shcherytsia and Yaroslav Zavorotnyi placed the ball at the back of Iran’s net three times.
Earlier in the day, the Spain men’s national beach soccer team ran past Azerbaijan 3-1.
The hosts and Spaniards will vie for the trophy on Monday.
The second edition of the Persian Beach Soccer Cup kicked off on January 27, and will run through January 29, 2018.
The Iran men’s national beach soccer team put a thrilling end to its campaign at the first edition of Persian Beach Soccer Cup in Bushehr, clinching the international tournament’s title with an unblemished record.
The Iranian squad defeated the national Italian beach soccer team – nicknamed Gli Azzurri (The Blues) – 4-3 in the final showdown at Bushehr Tourism Village on February 16, 2017.
